Job description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join the Data Center Power & Control Division Starline Team in Reading, UK. This position is responsible for supporting lean transformation and daily management initiatives by ensuring strategies are implemented, and principles/practices/tools are incorporated in the culture and processes under transformation. This position implements and supports actions that bring about improvements which may include, but are not limited to safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, cycle, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision.
  • Executing against long and short-term objectives to support the Plant's KPI's and goals.
  • Working with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles.
  • Assisting in the change systems/processes as required in support of the lean initiatives.
  • Utilizing value stream mapping techniques to design optimal information, material, and flow methodology.
  • Supporting engineered labor standards development and maintenance.
  • Coaching and following up on pre-work and post work standards.
  • Participating in co-facilitating or facilitating events, projects, and "just do it's".
  • Participating in Gemba walks and coaching employees on continuous improvement tools.
  • Help update and maintain visual performance tools, including tier boards.
  • Creating and implementing standard work while teaching/coaching leaders to do the same.
  • Assisting in identifying ongoing training needs.
  • Driving Lean culture and behaviors through coaching employees and following the Legrand Way.
  • Performing the Legrand Way RADAR to identify focus areas to improve in lean culture.
  • Coaching and advocating for the Legrand Values to all employees.
  • Auditing the areas after improvements are implemented.
  • Monitoring and reporting on key metrics.
  • Continuously updating labor standards / making spans.
  • Providing regular updates to leadership.
Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience supporting Lean/CI activities in an industrial manufacturing or engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a world class lean environment preferentially.
  • Operations or Engineering background preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineered labor standards utilizing a predetermined motion time system preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or related technical field. (Equivalent education/experience will be considered).
  • Knowledge of basic lean concepts and continuous improvement tools.

  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate activities and discussions using a defined process.
  • Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to create standard work documents.

  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain conditions, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
