Job summary

A prominent healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a passionate Continuity of Carer Midwife for their homebirth team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods for women and babies. You will have a minimum of two years band 6 experience and be involved in teaching and supporting staff. A flexible approach and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. The role offers a competitive salary of £38,682 to £46,580 per annum, pro rata.

Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife currently on the NMC register with relevant Diploma/Degree.
  • At least one year post registration experience.
  • Experience in all areas of midwifery.

Continuity of Carer Midwife (Homebirth Team)

The midwifery teams at WUTH provide care to approximately 3200 women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, both low and high-risk women. Encompassed within the unit is a Level 3 Unit for Neonatal Services, Children's Services and Women's Unit. We have a reputation for innovation in providing high-quality care to women in a hospital/community setting.

The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for the provision of care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods for women and babies in the hospital/community setting. You will also support the team/ward in the effective management of the clinical area. You will support, supervise and teach staff/students evidence-based client‑centred care, which is of a high standard, being responsible for ensuring that all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and maintaining associated records of care.

Main duties of the job

The post is advertised for a midwife who is passionate about home birth and low risk midwifery care. You must have a minimum of two years band 6 experience. Highfield is an award winning team that cares for women who would like a home birth or to birth their baby in Seacombe Birth Centre. Since 2018 Highfield team has increased WUTH home birth rate, and continue to promote choice of birth setting.

As a Highfield midwife you will be rostered for day and night on call for birth availability. You will also have a caseload of 1:36 women per year per WTE. The team covers the all of Wirral. Highfield team are seven midwives who are dynamic and passionate about midwifery.

If you enjoy low risk evidence‑based and individualised midwifery care, then this could be the post for you. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and a clear demonstration of the ability to provide personalised maternity care. You should have a clear commitment to current developments and initiatives within the Midwifery arena and sound knowledge of current issues in the public health agenda.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Womens and Childrens, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.
