Senior Backend Engineer (Remote) – UK (London, Remote)

We are looking for highly talented and driven software engineers who take pride in their work to expand our Engineering team in London.

Role Overview

Successful candidates will join a cross‑functional team including product managers and designers, working closely with the rest of our business to deliver working code that solves real problems for both internal and external customers. You will take ownership of the services managed by your team, ensuring that their development aligns with the higher level AlphaSights Engineering strategy, while mentoring more junior engineers.

What you’ll do

• Design solutions – define the best technical solutions to business problems, contributing to an architectural vision that will scale up to be the world's leading research platform.
• Ship working code – primarily work with React on the frontend and Kotlin microservices with Postgres on the backend, with some older services written in Ruby on Rails.
• Deploy and iterate – release frequently using CircleCI and Spinnaker for CI/CD, and quickly gather feedback to inform the next iteration.
• Build your competency – learn quickly by building market‑leading technology with experienced colleagues in a high‑performance environment. Engineers can also use our L&D budget to fast‑track specific technical competencies.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting – carefully monitor services, catch errors before users notice them, diagnose root causes and deploy fixes.

Qualifications

• A degree in a STEM subject (happy to work with alternative routes).
• Experience working at a similar level in a mature engineering team, looking to take your career to the next level.
• Technical expertise with at least one programming language (Kotlin, Ruby) and ideally relational databases.
• Proven track record of demonstrable impact, standing out from peers; highly driven, proactive, independent, and relentlessly pursuing excellent outcomes.
• Meticulous with high standards and an obsessive attention to detail.
