Contentious Probate Solicitor (2–5 PQE)

Department: Dispute Resolution

About the Role

A leading regional law firm is seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor with 2–5 years PQE to join its highly regarded Dispute Resolution team in Brighton. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is passionate about private wealth disputes and wants to work in a collaborative, supportive environment.

You will manage a varied caseload of contentious trusts and probate matters, including:

  • Inheritance Act claims
  • Executor and Trustee disputes
  • Breach of trust claims
  • Validity of Will challenges
  • Claims relating to breach of Executor duties
  • Other private wealth disputes

You will work closely with clients, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice, while contributing to the team’s growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle your own caseload under supervision, meeting billing and time-recording targets
  • Develop strong client relationships and deliver exceptional client care
  • Supervise junior team members and share knowledge through mentoring and training
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including seminars, articles and networking
  • Maintain compliance with firm procedures and ensure accurate case management
Requirements
  • 2–5 years PQE with experience in contentious trusts and probate work
  • Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Commercial and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively within a team
  • Competent IT skills (Outlook, Word, case management systems)
