Job summary

A government consultancy is seeking an experienced Content Designer to create user-centred content for digital services. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio in government content design, uphold GDS standards, and collaborate across teams. This is a 6-month contract with competitive daily rates in Newcastle.

Contract Opportunity: Content Designer (GDS / Government Experience)

Location: 2 days per month in Newcastle

Duration: 6 months

Day Rate: £420pd inside IR35

We’re looking for an experienced Content Designer with strong GDS and central government delivery experience to join a multidisciplinary team working on high-profile public services.

What you’ll do:
  • Create user-centred content across digital services following GDS guidelines
  • Work closely with user researchers, interaction designers and product teams
  • Contribute to content strategy, user journeys and service design
  • Ensure all content is clear, accessible and meets WCAG and GDS standards
  • Champion plain English and evidence-based decision making
What we’re looking for:
  • Proven experience working to GDS Service Standards
  • Strong portfolio of government or public-sector content design
  • Ability to work in agile, take part in ceremonies and collaborate across teams
  • Excellent communication, editing and structuring skills
  • Understanding of user needs, testing and iteration
