Salary: £46,062 (National) or £50,182 (Croydon) plus skills allowance of up to £5,000 pending assessment.

Location: Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool or Croydon (hybrid with 60% office attendance)

We’re looking fora Content Designer who wants to make a lasting impact on how the Home Office delivers user-centred products and services. The Enablers Portfolio supports essential areas of the Home Office by creating, maintaining, and managing key technology solutions. We work closely with colleagues within and outside of Home Office Digital including Human Resources, Finance, Estates, Commercial, Security, Communications, and Science, Technology, Analysis and Research teams. Together, we enable smarter, more connected digital experiences across the Home Office.

You could be part of a team shaping the Home Office customer relationship management systems, supporting strategic initiatives using Microsoft dynamics.

Essential skills

You will be assessed against the following skills and experience during the selection process:

  • prototyping and concept creation: advising on or creating product, service or policy concepts and prototypes using sketching, design software, physical mock-ups or code
  • content design: writing and editing content in line with defined processes and standards, and making complex language simple to understand for a non-specialist audience
  • evidence-based design: using analytics, feedback and research to understand user needs and to inform content decisions
  • accessibility and inclusion: assessing the accessibility of online content and advising teams how to fix issues so it is inclusive and accessible to all
  • collaboration: participating and facilitating group work, seeking feedback on your work and giving others constructive feedback
  • communicate, persuade and advocate: clearly articulating to stakeholders the benefits of taking a user-centred approach, based on evidence
