Job Details
- Role: Content Creator
- Location: Peterborough (Hybrid) – CITB operates a hybrid approach with teams working from home and attending the office an average of one to two days per month depending on business need.
- Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)
- Contract: Permanent
- Salary Range: £41,200 - £44,000
- Grade: SC2
- Target Salary: £42,642
- Interviews: Scheduled during the first two weeks of December
What You’ll Be Doing
- Strategic Content Planning and Development: Work with Business Partners to plan and implement content strategies that support CITB’s goals as the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board for construction. Apply the GCS OASIS methodology to deliver consistent, engaging messaging that supports campaigns and key organisational priorities.
- Multi-Format Content Creation: Produce high-quality content across multiple formats from written articles, social media posts, and video scripts to web copy, newsletters, and multimedia assets. Ensure all content is accessible, inclusive, and effectively communicates complex topics in a clear, relatable way.
- Audience‑Focused Content Strategy: Develop tailored content approaches for specific audiences including construction employers, workers, apprentices, and training providers. Use insight and behavioural science to create messages that engage, influence, and inspire positive action.
- Digital Content Optimisation: Create and optimise digital content for web and mobile channels. Apply SEO and accessibility best practice, and stay up to date with evolving technologies such as AIOs and AI‑assisted content creation, ensuring all content achieves maximum reach and engagement.
- Performance Measurement and Content Analytics: Use the GCS Evaluation Cycle to track and evaluate content performance across platforms. Analyse engagement metrics, audience behaviour, and feedback to refine content strategies and demonstrate measurable impact.
- Collaborative Content Development: Work closely with subject matter experts, policy teams, and external partners to develop accurate, engaging and authoritative content. Ensure all outputs are fact‑checked, legally compliant, and uphold government communication standards.
Your Experience
Essential
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms.
- Strong understanding of GCS standards and a commitment to government communications best practice.
- Proven experience developing content strategies using structured planning methodologies.
- Solid understanding of digital content creation, including SEO principles and platform optimisation.
- Experience producing content across multiple channels both online and offline.
- Knowledge of accessibility requirements and inclusive communication principles.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing platforms.
- Ability to use analytics tools to measure and evaluate content performance.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Understanding of intellectual property, copyright, and legal standards for content creation.
- Strong ability to simplify complex information into engaging, accessible content.
Desirable
- Experience working in public sector or non‑departmental public body environments.
- Skills in video production, scriptwriting, or multimedia content creation.
- Knowledge of GCS frameworks, including OASIS planning and the Evaluation Cycle.
- Familiarity with behavioural science and its application in content strategy.
- Experience with AI‑driven content tools and automation platforms.
- Understanding of crisis communications and managing sensitive content.
- Experience in user research or content testing to optimise engagement.
- Knowledge of accessibility legislation and assistive technologies.
- Experience managing external content suppliers, freelancers, or agencies.
- Understanding of social media management, community engagement, and email marketing principles.
Special Conditions / Other Requirements
- Occasional national travel with overnight stays may be required.
