Job description

Our Northamptonshire-based local authority client is seeking an experienced Contaminated Land Officer to join their Environmental Protection Team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice, guidance, and technical support on contaminated land matters. Your day‑to‑day duties will include undertaking inspections and investigations, advising stakeholders, and carrying out associated enforcement actions to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Environmental Protection Team to maintain and continually improve all aspects of the contaminated land service. The role also involves responding to planning applications, offering expert input on land contamination issues, and supporting others involved in the planning and environmental assessment process. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.

To be considered, candidates must hold a relevant environmental degree or possess equivalent experience, along with proven proficiency in ArcGIS databases. This is an initial 12‑week contract, with full‑time availability preferred. The position offers remote working, though occasional office visits may be required. The current pay rate is £46 per hour via an Umbrella company.
