Job summary

Forth Ports is seeking a Container Terminal Operative at Port of Tilbury. The role involves operating straddle carriers, handling containers and supporting landside and shipside operations.

You will perform manual handling, lashing, and basic maintenance, while delivering cargo with a strong commitment to safety and efficiency. The position requires a full UK driving licence, UK working rights, and a flexible attitude to shifts, including early, late, night shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in ports and with plant machinery is preferred, but full training will be given.
• Happy to work as part of a team and make a positive impact on port operations.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Full UK working rights.
• Flexible approach to shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Drive straddle carriers to move containers within the Terminal/Port to service landside and shipside operations.
• Manual handling, lashing & mooring.
• Deliver customer cargo to and from vessels in the condition it was delivered to the terminal.
• Cargo handling, housekeeping duties and basic maintenance.
• Follow computer-delivered information and safety policies.
