Consumer Finance PR Manager – Personal Finance & Digital PR

Are you an experienced PR Manager with a strong background in consumer finance and a passion for creating campaigns that make headlines?

We're working with an ambitious, growing financial services organisation looking to appoint a talented Consumer Finance PR Manager to drive brand awareness, secure high-profile media coverage and lead innovative PR campaigns across its consumer-facing financial brands.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of consumer PR strategy, working with established financial products that help millions of people make more informed decisions about their finances.

Alongside traditional media relations and digital PR, you'll play a leading role in an emerging area of communications: improving brand visibility within Generative AI search platforms such as ChatGPT and other AI-powered search tools.

We're particularly interested in speaking with PR professionals who have worked with established personal finance, banking, credit, lending or financial comparison brands and can demonstrate tangible results from their campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

Consumer PR & Campaign Management

• Develop and deliver engaging consumer PR strategies that strengthen brand awareness and reputation.
• Create and execute high-impact personal finance campaigns that generate national, regional and digital media coverage.
• Use consumer insights, proprietary data and market research to develop compelling, newsworthy stories.
• Identify opportunities for reactive PR around financial news, interest rates, household finances, borrowing and the cost of living.
• Manage multiple campaigns across different consumer brands, ensuring consistent messaging and measurable results.

Media Relations & Brand Awareness

• Build and maintain relationships with leading personal finance journalists, editors and broadcasters.
• Secure meaningful coverage across national newspapers, online publications, broadcast media and consumer finance platforms.
• Develop thought leadership opportunities and position key stakeholders as trusted industry experts.
• Support senior spokespeople with media interviews, commentary and press briefings.

Generative AI & Digital PR

• Develop PR campaigns designed to improve brand visibility and authority within AI-powered search engines.
• Secure high-quality editorial coverage, authoritative mentions and citations that support visibility across platforms such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and other emerging AI search technologies.
• Work alongside SEO, digital marketing and content teams to improve organic search performance and brand discoverability.
• Monitor how brands are referenced and recommended within AI-generated search results.
• Demonstrate how PR activity has contributed to improved AI search visibility, brand authority and relevant website traffic.

Performance & Collaboration

• Measure and report on campaign effectiveness, media coverage, brand mentions, digital engagement and AI search visibility.
• Collaborate with marketing, SEO, product and compliance teams to deliver integrated communications strategies.
• Ensure PR activity meets relevant financial services regulatory and compliance requirements.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Proven PR experience within consumer finance, personal banking, lending, credit products or financial comparison services.
• A strong track record of delivering successful consumer-focused financial PR campaigns.
• Established relationships with national personal finance journalists and relevant media outlets.
• Experience creating campaigns that generate meaningful coverage, improve brand awareness and deliver measurable commercial or digital results.
• Practical experience delivering PR campaigns that have improved a brand's visibility within Generative AI search engines, with evidence of the impact achieved.
• Excellent writing, storytelling and communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex financial information into engaging, accessible consumer content.
• Strong understanding of digital PR, SEO and the evolving search landscape.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with recognised UK banking, credit, lending or personal finance brands.
• Knowledge of consumer credit, credit scoring and the UK financial services market.
• Experience using data-led PR strategies to generate national media coverage.
• Familiarity with AI visibility tracking, digital PR measurement and media monitoring tools.
• Previous experience working within an FCA-regulated environment.
