  • You will undertake data gathering, analysis and modelling to develop practical decarbonisation pathways and compare different asset implementation scenarios.
  • You will assess technical and techno-economic feasibility, including development expenditure, capital expenditure, operating expenditure, lifecycle costs, delivery schedules, supply chain constraints, operational risks and potential funding or policy support. You will help clients set achievable sustainability and decarbonisation objectives, identify risks and opportunities, and translate your findings into sequenced implementation plans, liaising with both client technical teams and external engineering partners to progress projects to pre-FID.
  • You will support technical and commercial due diligence for energy and infrastructure transactions, potentially covering technologies such as district heating, bio-to-x, industrial electrifications.
  • You will review technical business plans, engineering studies, key contracts and development, capex and opex expenditure assumptions, testing whether asset performance, maintenance, refurbishment requirements are appropriately reflected in the investment case.
  • You will work directly with clients, incumbent engineers, technical advisers and Baringa subject-matter experts, including participating in site visits and gathering first-hand information about assets and operations.
  • You will prepare high-quality reports, risk registers, models and presentations that make translate complex technical findings into clear and accessible to both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders.

  • You will support the development of junior colleagues while continuing to build your own capabilities as a rounded technical and commercial adviser.

Your skills and experience

  • You will have a Bachelor’s degree, equivalent qualification or a minimum of 5 years’ substantial practical experience in chemical, process, mechanical, thermal, energy, or another relevant engineering discipline. An additional Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is desirable.

  • You will be comfortable working with complex technical information and using quantitative analysis, data and modelling to develop evidence-based conclusions.
  • You will have experience contributing to technical feasibility, technical due diligence, asset assessment, optimisation, decarbonisation or engineering advisory projects.
