Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting for a role within the Buildings Consultancy and Technical Advisory team across the UK. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment to provide independent technical advice, assurance and project delivery support from feasibility through handover.

You will review designs, manage risks, engage with clients and collaborate with contractors and design teams to deliver projects across buildings and infrastructure with a strong emphasis on governance and value.

Qualifications

• Degree in a built environment discipline and post-graduate experience in the sector.
• Experience delivering buildings and/or infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical understanding within a built environment discipline.
• Ability to review technical information and project documentation.
• Ability to identify and manage project risks and opportunities.

Responsibilities

About the business unit
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

Overview of the role

The Buildings Consultancy and Technical Advisory team provides independent technical advice, assurance and project delivery support across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects. We help clients make informed decisions, manage risk and deliver successful outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support clients from early-stage feasibility and option development through procurement, design, construction and handover. The role combines technical advisory, assurance and project delivery services, requiring the ability to understand complex technical issues, provide independent challenge and work collaboratively with clients, contractors and design teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong built environment background who enjoy problem solving, client engagement and applying their technical expertise across a variety of projects and sectors. You will play an important role in supporting our growing consultancy business while helping to develop new services and workstreams across our national framework portfolio.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

Candidate specification

Essential:

• Degree qualified in a built environment discipline such as Architecture, Building Services Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• Demonstrable post-graduate professional experience within the built environment sector
• Experience in the delivery of buildings and/or infrastructure projects
• Strong technical understanding within a built environment discipline
• Experience reviewing technical information, designs or project documentation
• Ability to identify and manage project risks and opportunities
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Comfortable working in client-facing environments
• Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative and work independently
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Flexible and adaptable approach to project and client requirements

Desirable:

• Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with a relevant professional institution (e.g. RIBA, CIBSE, IStructE, ICE, CIOB or equivalent)
• Experience providing technical advisory or assurance services
• Experience in project management and project governance
• Experience in contract administration and contract managementKnowledge of construction procurement routes and delivery models
