Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist to ensure continuity of MSK imaging services. The role includes reporting Plain Film, MRI and CT, performing ultrasound and guided procedures, and contributing to MDT meetings.

The successful applicant will join a team of MSK radiologists, participate in teaching, research, audit and CPD, and may work across multiple NUH sites, with sessions at the Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital campuses.

Qualifications

  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent required; candidate may be on Specialist Register or have a CCT at interview.
  • Subspecialty training in musculoskeletal radiology completed.
  • Fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology completed.
  • MRCP, MRCS or higher qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive elective and emergency MSK radiology service.
  • Report Plain Film, MRI and CT; perform ultrasound and fluoroscopy/US/CT guided procedures.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and on-call rota.
  • Engage in teaching, research, audit and CPD.

Job overview

We are seeking to appoint 1 full-time permanent Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Nottingham University Hospitals to ensure continuity of the service to support the local and regional demand for MSK imaging.

The successful applicants will share responsibility with 9 other colleagues for the provision of all aspects of MSK imaging in our Trust with possible future expansion to the Trusts within the regional network.

Main duties of the job

To provide, along with Consultant colleagues, a comprehensive elective and emergency on-call service related to MSK Radiology.

The posts include sessions for reporting time for Plain Film, MRI and CT, performing ultrasound and fluoroscopy/US/CT guided procedures and participation in multidisciplinary meetings.

The successful candidate will be expected to become an effective member of the team of MSK radiologists, to be responsible for the care of patients in their charge and to participate in teaching, research, audit and continuing professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Candidates must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists or an equivalent qualification and must either be on the Specialist Register, or in possession of a CCT at the time of taking up the appointment. However the department is delighted to entertain expressions of interest from individuals who will be within 6 months of attaining CCT at the time of interview .

The post will be primarily located at the Queen’s Medical Centre campus although the successful applicant will be required to provide sessions at the sites where we provide an MSK Radiology service.

A successful applicant would be required to be part of a dedicated MSK on call rota, which will have a frequency of 1:10.

  • FRCR (or equivalent)
