Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a major NHS teaching trust, seeks a Consultant in Radiology with thoracic/cardiac subspecialty interest. The role covers imaging, intervention and biopsy services across the Trust, with on-call and weekend duties and active participation in thoracic MDT meetings.

The post holder will contribute to acute imaging and image-guided procedures, and participate in teaching and training activities within a large teaching hospital environment.

Formación

• FRCR or equivalent is required.
• CCT in Radiology, or within 6 months of achieving CCT at interview.
• At least one year higher level training in thoracic/cardiac radiology.
• Full GMC registration.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver imaging, intervention and biopsy services across the Trust.
• Attend and present at thoracic MDT meetings (lung cancer, mesothelioma, ILD, COPD).
• Contribute to acute imaging: in-patient CT and US sessions and image-guided interventions (biopsy/drainage).
• Participate in a non-resident on-call rota (1:10) and weekend on-site reporting (1:20).
• Contribute to teaching, training and research as part of the job plan.

The post holder will be part of the cardiothoracic radiology team and deliver imaging, intervention and biopsy services across the Trust. Additional subspecialty interests may be accommodated/supported e.g. in oncological imaging. The Trust has installed Insignia PACS and has image sharing agreements in place with regional hospitals, to support multidisciplinary team meetings and allow access to comparative images across the region., The Trust is a tertiary referral centre for lung cancer, pleural and interstitial lung disease and supports the following thoracic MDT meetings: lung cancer, mesothelioma, interstitial lung disease, interventional COPD and general respiratory meetings. The post holder will be required to attend and present at these. The post holder will also contribute to acute imaging, providing in-patient CT and US sessions and image-guided intervention such as biopsy and drainages. The post-holder will be required to participate in a non-resident on-call rota providing on-call radiology cover (1:10). The post holder will be included in the weekend working rota 9am-6pm on a 1:20 basis which involves working on site reporting, undertaking required activity during this time period and supporting resident doctors. Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital Trust, and the post holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity. The post holder's contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review and the Oxford Deanery is keen to renumerate these activities.

Required qualifications

• FRCR or equivalent
• CCT in Radiology, or within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview.
• At least one year higher level training in thoracic/cardiac radiology at a recognised training centre.
• Full GMC registration

Desirable criteria

• Fellowship in thoracic imaging or post-CCT experience
• Additional post graduate medical qualification
• Training in cardiac CT angiography, to a recognised level of expertise, General training in Radiology to Specialist Level or equivalent
• Additional work experience in thoracic/cardiac radiology as above
• CT, MRI and US imaging of cardiothoracic disease in a tertiary referral centre
• Ability to make decisions at consultant level
• CT and US interventional skills including lung biopsy

• Cardiac CT angiography at a tertiary referral centre, Evidence of leadership skills
• Evidence of organisational skills, communication skills, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of Consultant in Radiology in a major teaching hospital
• Evidence to support good professional skills as required for good medical practice
• Evidence to support good interpersonal skills
• Evidence to support good communication skills
• Evidence of previous teaching experience at various levels
• An understanding of clinical governance and experience of clinical audit
• Interest in research with publications and presentation(s) at national/international

Desirable criteria

• Previous management experience
• Knowledge of organisation of NHS and governments agenda for modernisation of the NHS
• Good computing skills, word processing/spreadsheet and web browser use
• Post graduate teaching experience
• Recent peer reviewed publications
• Evidence of management training, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
