A mental health service provider in Brighton seeks an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join its team. In this role, you will implement guidelines, carry out clinical assessments, and collaborate on tailored treatment plans for patients with eating disorders. The ideal candidate must hold an MB BS and MRCPsych, and be registered with the GMC. This position includes a recruitment and retention payment of £45,000 structured over three years and requires strong communication and clinical skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join Sussex Eating Disorders Service (SEDS) and play an integral part in prioritising the delivery of a safe, effective, evidence-based psychological interventions, caring service to those aged 18 and over with a diagnosed eating disorder and their families/carers within Sussex. SEDS is commissioned to treat Atypical Anorexia, Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Bulimia Nervosa.
The post is based at East Brighton Mental Health Centre and has spoke sites across the region to enable practitioners to provide place-based treatment and outreach support to adult mental health liaison services for patients open to SEDS receiving treatment in acute hospitals across the counties and other specialist services.
The post-holder will work closely with the current Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Nurse Consultant, AHP Lead and operational management.

The postholder will be responsible for the consistent implementation and audit of MEED guidelines in both district general hospitals and the community. The post holder will work closely with other members of the Team to inform their Physical Health Care Plans.
The post holder will carry out high quality specialist clinical assessments of patients presenting with Severe Eating Disorders in need of assessment. The post holder will support colleagues to clarify eating disorder diagnosis, assess other mental and physical health co‑morbidities, with detailed risk assessment and co‑management of patients waiting or receiving treatment of their eating disorder in a range of settings. They will work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans.
The service we provide is in line with NICE Concordant Evidence‑Based Treatment for those with an eating disorder.
You will also be part of a Trust‑wide consultant network where there are opportunities to liaise with colleagues in other posts throughout the Trust and develop peer networks. You will also see consultant peers at regular division meetings in the locality and at clinical governance meetings.
