Qualifications

  • Experience in inpatient settings including working with patients under the Mental Health Act.
  • Previous Consultant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assume Responsible Clinician duties for Dunnock View.
  • Ensure patients admitted are assessed, treated and discharged safely.
  • Oversee medication management.

Job description
Consultant Psychiatrist

Join a brand-new acute Mental Health service where you will play a central role in shaping care pathways and building the culture alongside the senior leadership team.

This role is ideal for a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in inpatient settings including working with patients under the Mental Health Act and with an interest in supporting trauma-affected patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume Responsible Clinician (RC) duties for Dunnock View supported by non-consultant grade doctors and the Lead Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Ensure patients admitted are assessed treated and discharged safely
  • Oversee medication management
  • Support clinical governance including quality assurance complaints management and co-production
  • Deliver care in line with NICE guidance
  • Lead and manage CPA and ICR processes to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Participate in the On Call Consultant rota
Requirements
  • Medically qualified (MRC Psych or equivalent)
  • Innovative and able to initiate corporate decisions
  • Understanding of current developments in psychiatry and mental health
  • Knowledge of change management legislation contemporary mental health issues and purchaser / provider contractual issues
  • Previous Consultant experience
