Job summary

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead the Mental Health Liaison Team at Fairfield General Hospital. The post is substantive and involves consolidation of recent service developments to meet Core 24 standards.

You will work within a supportive team, contributing to clinical, educational and managerial duties, with a low out‑of‑hours on‑call frequency. A range of professional development opportunities and flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

  • CCT in Adult Psychiatry or dual CCT in Adult and Old Age Psychiatry.
  • Fully registered with GMC and licensed to practice.
  • Section 12 approval and eligibility for inclusion on the specialist register.

Responsibilities

  • Lead role in MDT liaison mental health service development.
  • Contribute to education, management and service evaluation within the team.

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a full time appointment for a consultant psychiatrist to work in the well-established MentalHealth Liaison Team based at Fairfield General Hospital. This is a substantive appointment. The appointee will have a lead role in consolidatingthe developments that have occurred within this service recently helping the service continue to develop in order to meet the ‘Core 24’ standardsdefined by the Department of Health.

the out of hours on-call frequency is low (1 in 30) with full second tier cover and 1 day off afterwards.

Main duties of the job

these include clinical, liaison, educational, managerial and service evaluation roles. Clinical work will include assessment and interventions with

patients in the acute trust and involve working with an expanding multidisciplinary liaison mental health team. the team will promote the

development of skills in this area within the acute trust and pathway development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

the post holder needs excellent knowledge and experience of assessing and providing mental health interventions for people with comorbid

physical health difficulties. the post is suitable for those with a CCT in adult or a dual in adult and old age psychiatry and experience of working in

an acute hospital setting. an endorsement in liaison psychiatry is desirable but not essential. applications are welcome from those who want to

work part time. Section 12 and AC approval are a necessity. applicants must be on the GMC's specialist register or eligible for inclusion or be

within six months of an anticipated award of a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in general Adult Psychiatry or dual CCT a/a at the time of

interview for the post.

you will have relevant professional qualifications in line with "essential" elements of the person specification and a CV demonstrating a wide range

of "essential and Desirable" skills in terms of qualifications, clinical skills, knowledge and experience as well as academic skills and life long

learning all detailed in the attached job description.
