A regional healthcare provider is seeking a part-time Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join their team. This role involves providing essential mental health support for children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The opportunity includes working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to improve care outcomes. Candidates must possess GMC registration and relevant qualifications, with a salary range of £110,240 to £160,951 per annum pro rata based in Tonteg, United Kingdom. This is a permanent position with a commitment to safeguarding children.
Applications are invited for a substantive NHS Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work with The Child and Adolescent Intellectual Disability Service (CAIDS). This is a specialist multi-disciplinary service providing services for children and adolescents with an intellectual disability and a mental health disorder. It will work in partnership with local secondary CAMHS and Paediatric services and specialist educational establishments providing specialist assessments enabling appropriate support, advice and treatment of children and young people with intellectual disabilities and their families. This post is a replacement post and is based in Tonteg Hospital, Church Road, Tonteg, CF38 1HY.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing specialist team including a Nurse and Physician Associate and there are further opportunities to expand the staff group and develop the service across the region. The service will be provided for children and young people with intellectual disability up to their 18th birthday, although children under the age of four will predominantly be managed by the community Paediatric child development team.

The appointee will be six session Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.
To improve outcomes for intellectually disabled children and young people in South Wales through the provision of timely, high quality, easily accessible, effective and cost‑efficient multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency support.
To provide developmentally appropriate evidence‑based specialist mental health interventions for intellectually disabled children and young people with co‑existing mental health problems.
To provide culturally appropriate services which support the local BME community and to provide appropriate access to families through the medium of Welsh.
Through the provision of a clinical consultation service for staff working with children and young people in universal and targeted settings, improve the early recognition of difficulties and provision of appropriate early interventions.
Through appropriate training and service development programmes develop the skills and competencies within specialist NHS CAMHS and in support of the wider children and young people’s workforce.
To deliver services in a manner that ensures safeguarding of children and young people is paramount and all staff are appropriately recruited and trained.
