Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant and Approved Clinician responsibility for all patients on Willow Ward.
  • Ensure prompt and comprehensive assessment of admissions, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Supervise and properly administer the mental health act concerning detained patients.

Consultant Psychiatrist in GA -Inpatients Willow ward

Alongside this consultant job there are also opportunities to take on one of our leadership roles on a three-year basis within your workplan in your substantive consultant role:

  • Divisional Medical Director - Older Adults, Specialist and Children's Services
    • You will ensure the provision of high quality, efficient and effective services across the division. It will be your responsibility, in conjunction with leadership colleagues, to ensure the division delivers the Trust Strategy and enabling plans within the division and its care groups.
  • Clinical Director - Working Age Adults Community and Assessment Care Group
    • You will provide medical leadership through a triumvirate leadership model to your care group and work collaboratively to improve quality, productivity and efficiency. You will work closely with the other care group leaders to realise the vision, values and strategic objectives of the Trust.

As a clinical leader you will be involved in shaping and developing the service. You will also have opportunities to grow and enhance your skills as a clinician and develop evidence based innovative practices.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of experienced and supportive colleagues who share good camaraderie and excellent working relationships.

The Consultant's role is to provide consultant and Approved Clinician responsibility for all patients on Willow Ward. Consultants will be responsible for the treatment given to patients in their care; they will be responsible for the prompt and comprehensive assessment of admissions, for diagnosis and treatment of patients, for regularly reviewing patient and for the proper administration of the mental health act in relation to detained patients, preparing tribunal reports and attendance at tribunals. They will be supported by the junior medical staff and the consultant is responsible for the appropriate delegation, organisation and supervision of the junior medical staff in the team.
