Job summary

Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston, is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist for our eating disorders unit. This part-time role (22.5 hours/week) offers a pro rata salary of £108,528 and a stimulating, patient-centered environment within a leading mental health care network.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, lead MDT rounds, and ensure high standards of care while supporting service development and CPD.

Qualifications

• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification required.
• CCT (or equivalent) and GMC Specialist Register with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
• Demonstrated commitment to CPD and service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and take overall responsibility for patient care.
• Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk assessments, and therapeutic planning.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Oversee referrals, admissions, and pre-admission assessments.

Priory Hospital Preston has an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team on our eating disorders unit. This role is offered on a Part Time basis working 22.5 hours per week. Pro Rata salary for this role is £108,528

Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston is a mental health hospital offering services for adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders across four wards. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes and Preston railway station nearby. The M55 motorway is also easily accessible.

What you’ll be doing

• In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.
• Provide clinical leadership and take overall responsibility for patient care.
• Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk assessments, strategic reviews, and therapeutic planning.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Oversee referrals, admissions, and contribute to pre-admission assessments.
• Provide specialist psychiatric expertise to multidisciplinary assessment, formulation, and treatment planning.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Applicants must hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement. Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
