South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist for CAMHS Learning Disability in a part-time role (7 PAs). The post focuses on providing consultation to specialist CAMHS for children and young people with learning disabilities and co‑morbid mental health needs.

Part Time - 7PAs
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work within our Child & Adolescent Learning Disability Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, developing service to provide consultation to specialist CAMHS for children and young people with moderate to profound intellectual disability, some of whom may have significant co‑morbid mental health needs.
We are looking for a consultant with the interest and skills in providing strong medical leadership to take our services forward.The role is being offered on a permanent basis, alongside a tailored management leadership programme for those individuals who would be interested in pursuing this.
Main duties of the job
The LD CAMHS service is a comprehensive multidisciplinary learning disability mental health team, incorporating psychiatry, psychology, learning disability nursing, speech and language therapy and behavioural analyst expertise.
The team provide a highly specialist learning disability CAMHS service for children and young people with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities with additional mental health needs and/or challenging behaviour. Many of the CYP have complex needs related to Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/ or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The team have strong relationships with the local authority disabled children services, special schools and education departments across all boroughs.

Job responsibilities

• To provide consultation and liaison with clinicians in Tier 2 and 3 services for patients resident within the boroughs of Richmond and Kingston, referrals to and liaison with Tier 4 providers and, together with the rest of the service, education and support for Tier 1 referrers.
• To provide clinical support for the team and provide psychiatric oversight to the team.
• To provide emergency consultation, liaison, advice, management and appropriate support to professionals within the team and in the wider network of the child, young person or family.
• To work in partnership with young people, parents and carers to develop and implement effective and agreed care plans.
• To contribute to the development of multidisciplinary and multiagency packages of care, treatment and support for young people and their families with complex mental health, physical health and social care presentations, through effective consultation, liaison and joint‑working.

Qualifications
Essential

• Primary Medical degree and CCT Specialist Registration.
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
• Included on the GMC Specialist Register or eligible for such inclusion on the Specialist Registrar within three months of completing their CCT.
• Approved Clinician status (or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment).
• Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act (or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment).
• Qualification in a talking therapy such as CBT, DBT or MBT
• Qualifications in change management and service development skills
• Additional clinical qualifications or other higher degrees or further training relevant to the post.
• Completed minimum of three years full time training in approved Higher Psychiatric training scheme.
• A detailed knowledge of main treatment approaches for severe mental illness including psychopharmacological interventions
• Minimum two years experience working with children and/ or adolescents in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Experience of working with learning disabilities/ neurodevelopmental disorders
• Knowledge and experience of the CPA process, risk assessment and risk management
• Experience of teaching medical and non‑medical staff, including those who may not have a formal qualification
• Experience of working with children/ adolescents/ young adults with learning disabilities.

AUDIT AND MANAGEMENT:

• Engage in continuing professional development, and join a Peer Group to gain approval for CPD done.
• Commitment to developing practice through clinical audit, quality improvement, and working with colleagues in the liaison psychiatry team, the acute trust, and managers. Commitment to working with allied agencies including carer's groups, and local charities.
