Job description
About the AD/HD Service Line

The Adult ADHD Service Line within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust comprises two key services: the Adult ADHD Service and the South East London (SEL) ADHD Referral Triage Service. The Adult ADHD Service provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with ADHD across Bromley, Bexley, and Greenwich, operating from an administrative base at Carlton Parade, Orpington, with a hybrid model of face‑to‑face and remote assessments. The service initiates and titrates ADHD medication, offering annual reviews or additional reviews as clinically indicated, before transferring stable care to GPs. The SEL ADHD Referral Triage Service delivers a centralised referral system for ADHD assessments across six SEL boroughs, ensuring equitable access and streamlined triage. Both services work collaboratively with GPs, Mental Health Hubs, and secondary care teams to manage complex cases, reduce waiting times, and maintain high standards of care in line with NICE guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide an assessment and diagnostic service for people referred to the ADHD service, possibly with a wide range of problems, including those with complex issues.
  2. Provide documentation and make appropriate decisions and referrals for ongoing treatment by appropriate treatment models.
  3. Ensure that medication reviews and medication follow‑up meetings take place within statutory timescales.
  4. Support the evaluation and assessment of clinical practice and outcomes using appropriate and agreed evaluation tools.
  5. Work with the Consultant Psychologist to embed risk management and clinical governance.
  6. Work with the medical secretary and other administrators to facilitate the completion of reports.
  7. Provide evidence‑based practice and outcome measures, whilst adapting practice to meet individual circumstances.
  8. Maintain clinical activity as set by the Chief Officer and as agreed with the Service Manager.
  9. Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to shared understandings of clinical processes.
  10. Provide supervision to internal and external professionals, as required, and contribute to the delivery of training and other CPD activities as appropriate with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Professional Expectations

The post holder will be eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry. The post holder will provide Consultant leadership for the ADHD team, 7.5 DCC. In addition, the post holder would be expected to contribute to an aspect of quality assurance. 2.5 SPAs will be allocated in the job plan for undertaking activities that support the professional role such as teaching, training, clinical management, clinical governance, service development, research, and other relevant activities.
