Job summary

Oxford Natural Healthcare Professionals seeks an experienced ADHD Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership within an established Adult ADHD service in South Yorkshire. You will oversee clinical assessment and treatment of adults with ADHD, supervise assessors and prescribers, and ensure high standards of clinical governance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• MRCPsych or equivalent required.
• “Full GMC registration with licence to practise” mandatory.
• “Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry – mandatory”.
• “Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act” required.
• “Consultant-level or higher trainee experience in Adult Mental Health” essential.
• Experience assessing and treating adults with mental health conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership across the Adult ADHD service.
• Provide clinical supervision to assessors and prescribers.
• Oversee screening, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
• Provide medical review of complex cases when required.
• Support clinical decision-making, risk assessment and care planning.
• Liaise with GPs and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
• Attend clinical, team and governance meetings; mentor and educate staff.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and care plans; ensure governance standards.

Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced ADHD Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership within an established Adult ADHD service in South Yorkshire.

This role involves overseeing the clinical assessment and treatment of adults with ADHD, providing clinical supervision to assessors and prescribers, and ensuring high standards of clinical governance, quality and patient safety.

The successful candidate will work closely with managerial and clinical leads and will have clinical responsibility for supporting the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care across the service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and medical leadership across the Adult ADHD service
• Provide clinical supervision and guidance to assessors and prescribers
• Oversee screening, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up
• Provide medical review of complex cases where required
• Support clinical decision-making, risk assessment and care planning
• Formulate and recommend appropriate pharmacological and psychosocial interventions
• Liaise with GPs and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
• Attend clinical, team and governance meetings
• Provide education, case reviews and planned training sessions
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, reports and care plans
• Work in line with NICE guidance, professional standards and clinical governance requirements
• Support the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred ADHD services
• MRCPsych or equivalent
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise

• Proven experience assessing and treating adults with mental health conditions
• Experience in adult ADHD assessment and treatment
• Strong understanding of clinical risk assessment and management
• Sound knowledge of the NHS Clinical Governance framework
• Experience providing clinical leadership, supervision and professional guidance
• Strong understanding of patient-centred care
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and other healthcare professionals
• Willingness and ability to travel between sites across South Yorkshire
• Access to suitable transport
