Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare teams at HMP Onley, a category C training prison, based in Rugby, Northamptonshire. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced integrated mental health team, including another Consultant Psychiatrist and a Mental Health specialist ACP. Successful applicant will be familiar with adult mental health presentations, delivering medication reviews, hospital referrals and psychiatric support for complex historic trauma.

Hours

1 day per week. Can be worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.

Salary

This position is part time, 8 hours per week. You’ll receive an annual salary up to £180,000 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

How will we support you?
  • You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant’s meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.
  • Competency framework.
Main duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite.
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications
  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
  • Specialist Registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
  • Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
