Job summary

Priory is looking for a consultant psychiatrist to join the team at Priory Hospital Preston. You will be part of a compassionate multidisciplinary team, contributing to assessment and treatment planning and providing clinical leadership.

This site-based, part-time role (22.5 hours) involves ward rounds, risk reviews and developing a therapeutic milieu. GMC registration, MRCPsych and CCT are required; Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Must hold MRCPsych and a CCT equivalent qualification.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register with Section 12(2) approval.
  • Demonstrated leadership and commitment to CPD.

Responsibilities

  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, including ward rounds and risk reviews.
  • Lead assessment, formulation and treatment planning within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic milieu and contribute to service improvement.
  • Supervise referral and admission processes and contribute to preadmission assessments.

DescriptionPriory Hospital Preston£108528.0Part time | 22.5 hours | Site basedGMC Registration requiredPriory Hospital Preston is looking to recruit a consultant psychiatrist to join the team.Priory Hospital Preston, Bartle, near Preston is amental health hospital offering services for adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders across four wards. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes and Preston railway station nearby. The M55 motorway is also easily accessible.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patientsTaking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.

Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).

Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.

Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.

Essential:This post requires a strong team player who is enthusiastic about contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation, and management planning.Applicants must hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement.
