Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist
Service Line: Female Low Secure
Professionally Accountable to: Medical Director
Managerially Responsible to: Hospital Manager
We are seeking an experienced full-time or part-time (any 4 days per week) Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Derby and provide senior medical cover on Alvaston Ward, our 16 bed specialist low secure service for women.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
Alvaston Ward is a 16 bed specialist low secure service for women with a primary diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder or mental illness.
The primary pre-cursor to an admission to Alvaston Ward is that the individual is ready to engage in a multi-disciplinary therapeutic programme. Service users may have a history of involvement in the criminal justice system or may present with significantly challenging behaviour, severe self-neglect and vulnerability.
In this role, your expertise will be the drivingforce for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.
And you’ll have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director Level through our management schemes.
