A leading healthcare provider in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics to provide scientific leadership and strategic direction. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of the nuclear medicine physics service, manage a multidisciplinary team, oversee radiation safety, and support key medical imaging services. Essential qualifications include valid HCPC and MPE certification, along with significant experience and leadership skills in the field.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics to provide senior scientific leadership and strategic direction for Nuclear Medicine Physics. This is a key leadership role within Medical Physics and the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the service. We are about to commission a brand new radiopharmacy and develop MRT dosimetry.

You should have proven scientific and leadership skills, be responsible for the strategic direction, development and day‑to‑day delivery of the nuclear medicine physics service. You must have Medical Physics Expert certification in nuclear medicine with extensive experience across imaging and MRT applications.

We seek a senior leader able to provide specialist advice to the Trust, with excellent communication and influencing skills, and able to collaborate effectively with clinical, managerial and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Manage staff and resources within the nuclear medicine physics service.
  • Ensure nuclear medicine procedures are delivered accurately and safely.

  • Support the Gamma camera service operated by the Radiology Department and the nuclear imaging service at Walsall Manor Trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
  • Valid HCPC registration.
  • Valid MPE certification.
  • Relevant first degree and MSc in radiation physics.
  • PhD or equivalent evidence of research training.
Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Valid RPA certification or working towards certification.
  • Diploma level or equivalent in management.
Experience & Skills (Essential)
  • Extensive relevant experience in nuclear medicine physics.
  • Proven managerial and leadership skills.
  • Expert understanding of UK ionising radiation legislation.
Experience & Skills (Desirable)
  • Broad knowledge of radiation and associated areas in Medical Physics.
Communications (Essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
