Job description

Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine

I have been assigned by an NHS Trust in South West England to help them recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months.

The successful appointee will be expected to undertake various roles and responsibilities in the department, such as:

  • Supporting and improving outpatient, inpatient, endoscopic, respiratory physiology, lung cancer, sleep, and other services in respiratory and general medicine.
  • Reporting on nocturnal oximetries and advising on management of patients with suspected or proven sleep-related breathing disorders.
  • Providing a comprehensive and seamless service in lung cancer, including seeing inpatients and outpatients with suspected or proven lung cancer, performing bronchoscopies, and working as an integral part of the lung cancer MDT.

Furthermore, the successful appointee will also be involved in teaching and training medical students, participating in audit, research, and clinical governance activities, and may have the opportunity to develop or pursue an area of interest within their specialty as agreed and appropriate.
