Job description
Overview

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) has a vacancy for a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist. Dual sub-specialty interests would be welcome. The post holder would also contribute to the general work of the department, including general diagnostic radiology on call.

Details

The post requires full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practice. The candidate should be on the specialist register for Radiology or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview. Contact the Directorate management team for further discussion.

Responsibilities
  • Be a radiologist with particular interest in Paediatric imaging. Interest in intervention is welcome but not essential.
  • Primary base at Salford or Oldham depending on preference, with a possible second sub-specialty interest.
  • Contribute to the general diagnostic work of the department, including on-call duties at one of the two sites. On-call frequency will depend on site and both rotas are low frequency with overnight outsourcing. Provide prospective cover for annual and study leave.
  • Collaborate closely with other consultants and the wider multi-disciplinary team to support and develop services.
Qualifications and Registration
  • Essential: Primary medical qualification (e.g., MBChB).
  • Essential: FRCR or evidence of equivalent training and experience.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate degree (e.g., MRCP, FRCR).
Professional Registration and Supervision
  • Essential: Full GMC registration with a valid licence to practice (or eligibility to apply).
  • Essential: Registration on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT).
  • Desirable: GMC-recognised clinical and educational supervisor qualifications or a plan to obtain CS within 6 months of joining and ES within 12 months.
Knowledge, Training and Experience
  • Essential: Wide experience in Radiology with sub-specialty skills appropriate to the post.
  • Essential: Good understanding of Clinical Governance.
  • Essential: Evidence of audit work leading to change.
  • Desirable: Broad experience in management of Radiology; publication of research articles demonstrating understanding of research methodology.
Skills & Abilities
  • Essential: Proven ability to build and maintain effective teams.
  • Essential: Positive attitude towards the wider healthcare team.
  • Essential: Private residence within 30 minutes or ten miles of the principal place of work.
