A leading orthopaedic hospital in the UK seeks a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to support service expansion and address capacity issues. The successful candidate will provide specialist clinical expertise, manage services effectively, and contribute to teaching and research. An opportunity has arisen within The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) NHS Foundation Trust for a Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant post (10PA), complementing the existing three Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons. The postholder will support the team to address current departmental capacity issues and plans for ongoing expansion and development of the unit, and participate fully in developing and promoting the Paediatric Orthopaedic service in line with the unit and wider trust strategy.
The successful candidate would provide clinical expertise in the speciality, complementing the existing services; experience in managing and leading the Ponseti service would be particularly useful.

The appointee will be responsible for the care of patients referred by general practitioners and all departments and will undertake clinics, ward rounds and operating lists as appropriate. We are looking for a dynamic individual who wishes to develop this service to meet the high demand in a timely and efficient manner.
The appointee will have responsibility for running their clinical service, integrating this with the department as a whole and ensuring appropriate communication with general practitioners, managers and hospital committees. They will contribute to achieving relevant aspects of the Trust’s contractual obligations and business plans. They will ensure their clinical service complies with Clinical Governance principles, including clinical audit, targets, KPIs, evidence‑based practice, and personal educational and professional development. They will take responsibility for ongoing professional education in accordance with guidelines set by the appropriate college or professional body. They will maintain appropriate records for appraisal and revalidation procedures, and secure funding for CPD.
