Job summary

A leading pediatric healthcare institution in London is seeking a Consultant for Haematology to provide clinical services to children with haematological conditions. The ideal candidate will have GMC registration, MRCP or equivalent, and extensive experience in paediatric haematology. This full-time position offers a salary range of £109,725 to £145,478 per annum and requires participation in governance and quality improvement activities.

Job description
Job Summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust – Consultant for Haematology (10 PAs). GOSH is the largest centre for paediatric haematological malignancies in Europe with around 90 new diagnoses per year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a clinical service to infants and children with malignant haematological conditions (leukaemia, MDS, NHL) and marrow failure.
  • Share outpatient and ward responsibilities with other consultants (5.5 other consultants).
  • Attend ward rounds, lead investigations and treatment of patients.
  • Run clinic (supervise day‑care, laboratory reporting and team clinic). Cover ward as needed.
  • Lead team in full ward rounds daily, maintain competence in electronic prescribing and hands‑on clinical work.
  • Lead and respond to external queries and referrals.
  • Ensure clinical governance, audit and quality improvement participation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • GMC specialist registration with a Licence to Practice.
  • MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent.
  • FRCPath or equivalent.
  • CCT/CCST in Haematology (or within 6 months of interview); CESR pathway eligible.
  • Extensive experience in paediatric haematology.
  • Experience teaching, multi‑disciplinary team leadership, clinical audit.
  • Published research in peer reviewed journals related to haematology.
  • Involvement in clinical governance and quality/safety improvement projects.
  • Desirable: higher degree (PhD, MD), teaching or leadership qualifications, experience in clinical trials recruitment, shared care clinics, clinical leadership/management.
