Job description

Position Overview

A vacancy for a consultant within the trauma and orthopaedic directorate at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based across the three sites: Aintree, Broadgreen and Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical advice on complex cases and second opinions for patients.
• Participate in trauma and elective rotations as part of the 24‑week rolling rota.
• Be on call: nominated on call days 1:4 weeks Monday to Thursday, and 1:8 weekends, with a maximum average of 3 hours of emergency work per week.
• Take an active part in continuing medical education and clinical teaching for junior staff and undergraduate students.
• Participate in audits and pursue research and educational activities.
• Contribute to the management of the department to facilitate continual improvement of services.
• Assist the consultant team in providing Trust with advice on specification and contracts for medical services.

Working Hours and Compensation

The job plan includes 8.5 Pa DCC and 1.5 Pa SPA, subject to review and agreement with the successful applicant.

Location

Across all three LUHFT sites: Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
