Job description
Overview

The post (replacement) will be in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at North Middlesex Hospital and the appointee will join the other 17 Consultants. The hospital is undergoing rapid changes, including a brand‑new purpose‑built Accident and Emergency Department with a dedicated Gynaecology Emergency Room.

Key service highlights:

  • Active Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit / Emergency Gynaecology Unit with two trained nurse ultrasonographers, three Consultant sessions, two ultrasound machines with pulsed colour Doppler, and daily beta‑hCG assays.
  • Designated Cancer Unit within the North Central London Oncology network.
  • Modern minimal‑access gynaecological surgery facilities: video cameras, laparoscopes, hystero‑resectoscopes, Novasure endometrial ablation; increased demand from GPs and patients.
  • Weekly outpatient hysteroscopy clinic and gynaecological urodynamic session.
Responsibilities
  • Provide obstetric care for approximately 5,000 deliveries per year, managing a diverse population with conditions such as pre‑eclampsia, sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, HIV, and substance abuse.
  • Offer general and specialist gynaecological services, including pre‑menstrual problems, fertility, bladder dysfunction, uro‑gynae, specialist FGM clinics, colposcopy, menopause, endometriosis, recurrent miscarriage, fibroids, and collaboration with UCLH Gynae‑oncology.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teamwork to deliver high‑standard patient care and maintain current best practices.
