Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a Consultant Neurophysiologist to join their team. You will be responsible for reporting adult EEGs and providing consultations with neurologists and psychiatrists. Qualifications

Consultant Neurophysiologist in Adult EEG

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH)

As a consultant neurophysiologist you will be a member of a team that provides the reporting of adult EEGs, for both outpatients and ward patients at UCLH.

Main duties of the job
  • Run a clinic as per timetable. Typically organised as one day a week, with cross cover for leave with other EEG neurophysiologists.
  • Be available during normal weekday office hours for consultations with neurologists, psychiatrists or neurosurgeons relating to inpatients in the hospital and facilitate inpatient consultations on request.
  • Report urgent EEGs, recorded by physiologists, within hours of the recording and provide written reports on the electronic health care record.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
  • oMRCP, FRCPCH or equivalent
  • oCCT in Clinical Neurophysiology or Neurology or equivalent
  • oEligible for Full UK GMC Registration or equivalent on GMC Specialist register in relevant Specialty within 6 months of expected date of CCT.
  • oNB: Non‑UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register and Specialist register in relevant Specialty by the date of the interview.
  • oPhD or equivalent, high‑profile publications as first, lead or senior author
  • ounderstanding of current changes in the management and organisational structures of the NHS
  • oknowledge of Clinical Governance framework of NHS
Clinical Experience
  • oWide experience in clinical neurophysiology related to EEG
  • oExperience working in a multi‑disciplinary team and understanding of the different roles.
  • oExperience of research, teaching and clinical governance activities of the department.
Skills and Abilities
  • oExperience in managing clinic workflow of reporting EEG studies
  • oManagement of associated comorbidities

  • oAbility to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist service.
  • oAbility to organise and manage specialist service including outpatient referrals.
