This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of neurologists inour friendly and innovative district general hospital. We have a greatreputation for training and development with excellent staff benefits. Wecare for a diverse population across a large geographical area, leading toseveral opportunities for developing services and career growth, including working in collaboration with WYAAT (West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts).We are looking for a consultant with a certificate of completion of training in neurology, who will support both outpatient and inpatient services. You will join a strong multi-disciplinary team including specialist nurses, therapists and other medical specialists. There will be opportunity to develop areas of specialist interest.

Main duties of the job

Delivering outpatient neurology clinics at Airedale Hospital with thepossibility of supporting our telemedicine service.Supporting neurology inpatients in our specific stroke/rehab/neurologyin-patient wardWorking as part of a multi-disciplinary team including specialist nurses,therapists and other medical specialists.Providing support for inpatient referrals on other medical wardsincluding our acute assessment unit.Clinical supervision of resident doctorsParticipating in clinical governance, audit and service improvementYou must be fully registered with the GMC and hold license to practiceand be on the specialist register, or within six months of attaining yourCCT or equivalent at interview stage.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will join the existing team in providing a comprehensive level of service to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and its users.

The post will be based at Airedale General Hospital.

To support delivery of geriatric medicine inpatient and outpatient work in the Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven and East Lancashire area.

Qualifications
  • licence to Practise with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • MRCP, FRCP or equivalent
  • Excellent clinical skills Knows limits of own competence Is safe, knowledgeable and evidence of continuous learning
  • Higher degree (PhD; MD) or Mphil
Knowledge
  • Geriatric and General Internal Medicine
  • Relevant experience in organisation and undertaking clinical audit/appraisal
  • Experience in or knowledge of the use of telehealth technology and anticipates changes in the political climate
Experience
  • Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
  • Ability to critically review research
  • An acknowledged expert for research in a particular aspect of healthcare education/clinical practice
  • Experience within a research team
  • Post-MD/PhD research experience
