A prominent health organization in Wales seeks a Consultant Neonatologist for an 8-session post at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. This role involves providing high-quality care to newborns, participating in governance, and working within a supportive team. Candidates should have a GMC licence and relevant training from the Royal College. Main Duties - Consultant Neonatologist. Provide clinical care with consultant and multi-professional colleagues. Diagnose, treat, and help prevent illness in newborns. Take responsibility for patients under your care. Delegate tasks appropriately and support staff training. Ensure services run safely, efficiently, and effectively. Work in line with Health Board values and policies. Report safety concerns and suggest service improvements. Follow GMC's principles of good medical practice. Participate in clinical governance and risk management. Adhere to Caldicott Principles for information governance. Maintain GMC licence through revalidation and appraisal. Create a Personal Development Plan with the Clinical Lead. Meet Royal College and GMC training requirements. Review and agree on job plans annually. Help improve and modernise neonatal services. May contribute to national NHS Wales initiatives.
Ensure safe, high-quality care during on-call periods.
Lead daily ward rounds and supervise neonatal unit activity. Liaise with obstetric consultant and support labour ward. Two consultants cover critical and special care areas.

The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic, innovative, and supportive team of Neonatal Consultants committed to delivering high-quality, family-centred care to newborns across Swansea Bay University Health Board and the wider referral population of South West Wales. This post is pending Royal College approval.
Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot. The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University, aimed at improving the wellbeing and wealth of South West Wales.
