Swansea Bay University Health Board invites applications for a Stroke Physician to join the regional team. The post contributes to the running of the Stroke Unit and supports the ongoing development of a Comprehensive Regional Stroke Centre at Morriston Hospital.

The role includes participation in the GIM on‑call rota (1 in 20) and on‑call ward rounds, with a future 24/7 Stroke rota envisaged for the region. You will join a team of 65 consultants across Swansea Bay.

Applications are invited for a Stroke Physician to join the team at Swansea Bay University Health Board after what has been an extremely challenging period for the NHS.

The Stroke workforce is currently being expanded to the future demands of the service including the development of a Comprehensive Regional Stroke Centre (CRSC) based at Morriston Hospital. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the running of the Stroke Unit. Providing the post holder with opportunities for personal development, growth and a sense of belonging amongst Stroke team.

The post holder will also be required to participate in the GIM on call rota (1 in 20) and will have responsibility for post on-call ward rounds. Eventually, a dedicated 24/7 Stroke Rota for the Region is envisaged., This is a replacement post joining a team of 5 consultants responsible for the provision of Stroke Services across SBUHB. We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues committed to improving the delivery of patient care. The post will join a team of 65 Consultant Physicians at Morriston Hospital responsible for the provision of acute and specialist medicine within Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.

The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University. Aimed at improving the wellbeing and wealth of South West Wales.
