Job summary

Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant in Rheumatology and Acute Medicine or Rheumatology to join the team working across Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham hospitals.

This appointment will be made in accordance with the 2003 Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions. The Job Description indicates the main duties of the post, which may be reviewed in the light of experience and developments within the service. Any review will be undertaken in conjunction with the post holder.

This is a full time 10PA post. However, applications for less than full‑time work or job shares would also be welcomed.

Person specification

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent.
• Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
• MRCP or equivalent
• An appropriate higher qualification

Legal Requirement

• Inclusion on the Specialist Register
• Should either have or be within 6 months of obtaining a CSST in Rheumatology (and general internal medicine for Acute Medicine post)

Training

• Certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine (for Acute Medicine post)
• Attendance at appropriate professional courses

Experience

• Wide experience in all aspects of rheumatology and medicine (where relevant). To be willing to develop skills as appropriate to the service needs
• Special interests; Previous experience in managing complex multisystem inflammatory / autoimmune rheumatological conditions, and experience of MDT input

Management/Audit

• An understanding of the NHS management responsibilities of consultants. Experience of clinical audit
• Attendance at an appropriate management course.

Teaching

• nterest in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff as well as other healthcare workers
• Teaching qualification e.g. PG Cert in Med Ed.

Employer certification / accreditation badges

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
