We are pleased toadvertise this post that has come from our integrated approach torehabilitation across the acute & community providers in Plymouth, servingthe people of Devon & Cornwall who use these services.

This 10 PA post is focussed on leading the community multi-professional neuro-rehabilitation team of Plymouth with additional activities in the interventional clinics, intrathecal baclofen pump service, and spinal regional rehabilitation team. This post will also take a leadership role in developing these services. The Consultant may be asked to provide cover for a Level 2a Specialist Rehabilitation Beds and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.

Main duties of the job

This post will also take a leadership role in developing these services. As part of the role the Consultant may be asked to provide cover for a Level 2a Specialist Rehabilitation Beds and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.

Based in Plymouth, at Mount Gould Hospital, this role joins an enthusiastic physician team of 3 Consultants, 1 Specialist, 1 SAS Doctor plus trainees on rotation & a well-established multidisciplinary team. You will be an integral part of the Physicians Group, working a mix of acute and community settings, assessing people who have multiple, complex, interconnected and enduring medical conditions. We provide treatment that is person-centred, to ensure that the patient is actively involved in decisions regarding their care.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Training and wide experience in the field of rehabilitation medicine. Secure background general medical experience and competency to manage on-call emergencies at senior level (if on-call). Experience of working with managers to improve patient experience and service delivery. Experience in clinical audit. Understanding of clinical research. Understanding of teaching principles for undergraduate, postgraduate and interdisciplinary learners. Proven ability to motivate, support and work within a multi-disciplinary team. High professional and ethical standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to continuous professional development. Basic computer/IT skills.
  • Ability to manage limb spasticity with botulinum toxin injections. A special interest or advanced experience in prosthetics, major trauma. Knowledge and understanding of the NHS. Evidence of service development and enacting change. Ability to lead clinical services. Relevant published papers in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in teaching, particularly at a multi-professional level and of undergraduates. An enthusiasm to develop research opportunities. Proven ability to organise and prioritise workload, delegating as appropriate and supervising staff. Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional and national levels. Ability to balance competing pressures that come from holding more than one role.
Qualifications
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent. CCT/CESR in Rehabilitation Medicine (or within six months).
  • Higher qualifications in rehabilitation. Qualifications in teaching and learning.
