Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a post-holder to contribute to tertiary level paediatric urology care and acute general and neonatal surgery, supported by a multidisciplinary team across our sites.

The role includes teaching and training, with travel to Horton General Hospital, Chipping Norton, Northampton General Hospital, and within our ODN for theatre sessions and clinics; it is designed to fit into the evolving division and clinical service plans.

Job description

Clinical; The post-holder will contribute to the provision of tertiary level paediatric urology care and in the acute general and neonatal surgery as part of the acute rota (1:7.5). The post-holder will work closely with other members of the paediatric surgery and urology teams, including clinical nurse specialists, in the delivery of high-level care for children and families from the region and beyond. The post holder will also have clinical support from clinical team members (trainees, trust doctors and foundation doctors) in delivering this care. The post-holder will need to travel to different sites e.g. Horton General Hospital, Chipping Norton, Northampton General Hospital, and within our ODN for theatre sessions and clinics. These are existing clinics and lists, as well as others in development. Appropriate travel time will be permitted to reach these sites.Teaching/Research Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is a teaching hospital trust, and the post-holder will be required to

participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. It is expected that this will be an integral part of everyday clinical activity. The post-holder's contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review.

The Division is headed by a Divisional Director, a practising clinician who is supported by a Divisional Nurse, Divisional Medical Director and General Manager. The Division is responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of services within their areas in line with Trust strategies, policies and procedures and contains five Clinical Directorates, each of which contain clinical service units covering specific areas of services. The five Directorates are led by Clinical Directors and supported by Operational Service Managers, Matrons and other relevant experts. The Directorates host services on three hospital sites; The John Radcliffe Hospital, The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and the Horton General Hospital.The Division, whilst mirroring the overall vision of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, aims to be a leader across the United Kingdom as a provider of a range of standard and specialised services.
