Overview

We are delighted to offer an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced and motivated Consultant Obstetrician to lead our Outpatient Clinics and Assessment Services. This high-impact role sits at the heart of our maternity service and offers the chance to shape, innovate, and deliver outstanding care for women and families. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership across outpatient and assessment pathways, driving service development, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration in line with national standards and NHS priorities. This post combines senior clinical practice with meaningful leadership influence in a supportive and forward-looking team. You will be responsible for the planning, delivery, development and improvement of outpatient and assessment services (antenatal, pregnancy assessment unit/ triage areas) together with providing a high-quality obstetrics service including on-call out of hours, in conjunction with consultant colleagues and a multi-disciplinary team. There is flexibility within the department to accommodate the skills of the successful candidate. You will also be required to:

  • Participate in teaching, examination and appraisal duties
  • Bring experience to clinical diagnosis and effective multidisciplinary team-working
  • Develop and implement standards of obstetric & gynaecological practice and have a major role in developing specific pathways, guidelines and risk management including maintaining and developing the risk for inpatient services
  • Audit the effectiveness of practice and develop and modify, as required
  • Train and educate staff in a multidisciplinary team
