A leading acute teaching trust in Southampton seeks a skilled Consultant Intensivist to join its reputable GICU team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust welcomes a skilled and versatile Consultant Intensivist, with strong inter‑personal skills, to join a large, friendly and supportive department. The GICU team is fully integrated with the Anaesthetic department, and a majority of GICU Consultants also deliver Anaesthetic sessions. UHS is the largest centre for Intensive Care on the South Coast and has a regional responsibility for specialist care, education and research. The unit achieves very high quality ICNARC data and some of the best outcomes nationally from wave 1 of the SARS‑CoV‑19 pandemic. The General ICU has been recently completely rebuilt and this state‑of‑the‑art facility opened in November 2020. The quality of the environment in the new unit is second to none and provides a greatly enhanced GICU environment to the benefit of both staff and patients.
UHS is the Major Trauma Centre for the region. UHS has extensive research facilities including the Welcome Clinical Research and the Biomedical Research Unit, and the GICU team plays a major part in relevant and national research agendas. You will be joining a cohesive team who are working together to deliver high quality care for patients in these difficult and uncertain times.
