Job description
Job responsibilities

This is an exciting time to join the Trust and the successful candidate will be able to shape the future model of diabetes and endocrinology care. Experienced candidates who are interested in becoming the service lead for the Diabetic and Endocrinology service are welcome to apply as are more junior candidates who wish to focus on developing their clinical expertise. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with an interest in service development to support the roll out of new diabetic technologies. The patients we serve need your help. We have high levels of deprivation and a high prevalence of Diabetic and Endocrine diseases. They deserve the best care and we believe you can help us continue to provide it for them. Our brand new hospital is one part of a huge regeneration programme in the locality and we want you to be a part of creating the amazing services that our patients require. #morethanahospital

Research

The University of Birmingham would like to support research by offering two protected research PAs to recently appointed (within 18 months) consultants. Sessions will be prioritised for those with a commitment to research and an interest in an area of research that maps to University of Birmingham strengths. Support will be assessed on a competitive basis. At the University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where all belong. We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in our workforce. These include people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, LGBTQI+ people, and women. A bespoke mentoring/training programme along with a £5k training/consumables budget will be provided. Assuming good progress is made the Research PAs will be for 3 years. In keeping with our track‑record of supporting the development of colleagues, we anticipate that the appointees will be able to raise research funding to support their research time beyond the 3‑year period.
