Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Dermatology Consultant at East Sussex Healthcare in the Specialist Medicine Division. You will join our established Dermatology consultants, nursing teams, specialty trust doctor, and General Practitioners with a special interest in Dermatology.

The Department is looking to appoint an individual who is experienced, dynamic, and committed to delivering services that reflect best clinical practice within Dermatology.

The applicant will have experience in diagnosing and managing all aspects of general dermatology, including skin cancer and inflammatory skin diseases, with assessment and treatment.

This post will provide consultant leadership to supervise junior medical and nursing teams delivering high-quality, safe outpatient and inpatient care.

The post will support inpatient referrals to the specialty and provide clinical expertise to referring medical teams. This post does not have an on-call commitment.

Nurse-led services include skin surgery, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, drug monitoring/biologics clinics, patch testing, and intralesional steroid and Botox injections.

Main duties of the job

The role includes supporting inpatient referrals, providing clinical expertise, and leading supervision of nursing teams involved in phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, biologics clinics, patch testing, and intralesional injections.

  • Higher Degree MB BS or equivalent
  • Membership or Fellowship of MRCP
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • Specialist Qualification in Dermatology or equivalent with CCT or CESR

Training and Experience
  • Extensive experience in all dermatology aspects, including surgical dermatology and skin cancer multidisciplinary meetings
  • Experience in related medical specialties and relevant courses; advanced training in skin surgery/post-CCST fellowship

  • Experience in staff management and understanding of Clinical Governance and Appraisal
  • Management training or qualifications; knowledge of the NHS structure
