Job Summary
Consultant in Critical Care Medicine within Medway NHS Foundation Trust.
Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum (pro rata). Permanent full‑time, senior grade.
Location: Windmill Road, Gillingham, ME7 5NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consultant‑led, evidence‑based critical care in ICU and HDU, including daily rounds, MDT reviews.
- Provide 24‑hour consultant cover on the on‑call rota and lead complex case management and outreach.
- Supervise and teach medical students, trainees, nurses and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners.
- Contribute to departmental and regional education programmes, simulation and ultrasound training.
- Lead quality improvement, audit, governance and research activities, including trials.
- Drive service development, including rehabilitation, workforce planning and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain professional standards, CPD and compliance with Trust policies.
- Demonstrate behaviours aligned with Trust values: Bold, Every Person Counts, Sharing and Open, Together.
Key Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
- Postgraduate qualification in intensive care medicine (FRCA, FFICM, EDICM, DICM, MRCP, FRCEM) or equivalent.
- Entry onto specialist register as CCT in single ICM or within 6 months of anticipated CCT, or CESR application at interview.
- Experience supervising core trainees, registrars and non‑medical professionals.
- Commitment to critical care speciality and leadership experience.
- Certification in FICE, FUSIC or BSE desirable.
