Job summary

Pulse Healthcare in Devizes, Wiltshire, seeks a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our NHS client on a full-time basis. The post involves providing expert psychiatric care to adults with complex needs and working under the Mental Health Act as a Section 12 Approved Clinician.

Key responsibilities include clinical leadership for adults with diverse mental health conditions, conducting comprehensive assessments and treatment planning, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT).
• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility to obtain).
• Extensive experience in adult psychiatry and multidisciplinary team working.
• Strong leadership, communication and clinical decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care for adults with a range of mental health conditions.
• Act as an Approved Clinician and hold Section 12 approval, detention, treatment, discharge planning under the Mental Health Act.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, psychology, social care, and primary care professionals.
• Supervise and support junior medical staff and trainees.
• Participate in service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic, person-centred care.
