Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay seeks a Consultant Haematologist to deliver comprehensive care for a broad range of blood disorders. The post involves outpatient clinics, multi-site duties, and developing a sub-specialist interest, with on-call responsibilities across the Trust hospitals.

The successful candidate will hold GMC registration with licence to practise, and be on the Specialist Register or expect to achieve CCT/CESR within six months of interview.

Qualifications

• Evidence of GMC registration with licence to practise.

• MRCP or MRCPath in Haematology, or equivalent.
• Broad training in clinical and laboratory haematology.
• Experience in teaching under/postgraduate trainees.

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious and dynamic individual to join our committed and well-integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high standard care. This post is for a Consultant Haematologist responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical care to patients with a wide range of blood disorders, including haematological malignancy. The role also involves providing specialist advice on all aspects of haematology to colleagues across the Trust and in Primary Care. The successful applicant will be based at Furness General Hospital, with flexibility to work across Trust sites, including Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Outpatient activity will include general haematology clinics, with the opportunity to develop a sub-specialist interest. Clinics are delivered within oncology units across the three sites, in close proximity to chemotherapy delivery areas. This is a full-time 10 PA post with 2 additional programmed activities (APA), subject to negotiation and reviewed annually through the job planning process. Applicants are encouraged to clearly demonstrate how they meet the essential and desirable criteria outlined in the person specification within their application., The postholder will provide full clinical care for patients with haematological conditions, including haematological malignancy. They will deliver specialist haematology advice to colleagues within the Trust and in Primary Care, supporting safe and effective patient management. The role includes contributing to clinical laboratory services at Furness General Hospital and Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The appointee will also participate in the consultant on-call rota, providing cover across all Trust hospitals. A whole-time equivalent consultant would typically undertake three general haematology outpatient clinics per week, alongside developing and maintaining a sub-specialist interest aligned to service needs. • Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit
  Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC.
