Consultant Haematologist - Essex Region - FTC

Triple West Medical has been appointed by an NHS Trust based in South East/Essex Region to help recruit a Consultant Haematologist for a Locum Fixed Term Contract 12 months minimum.

The Trust has over 10,000 staff offering a comprehensive range of acute and community services across a number of sites to over 1 million people. The NHS Trust wishes to continue building its reputation and advance the standards of clinical care at the cutting edge of its specialty.

The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of the delivery of Cardiothoracic Pathology services, including reporting biopsies, EBUS, thoracic and cardiac resection specimens, reporting a whole range of liquid-based respiratory cytology and thoracic aspirative cytology including EBUS and other FNAs. The new Consultant will also provide intra-operative diagnosis (frozen sections), and supervise the cut-up of pulmonary, mediastinal and cardiac resection specimens.

Clinical Duties:

  • In conjunction with existing specialised consultant colleagues, ensure that the department provides an effective service within national and local standards, including keeping the National Optimal Cancer Pathway TAT.
  • Continue responsibility for the care of patients within the Trust, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
  • Agree with other Specialised Consultant cover for periods of absence.
  • Participate in clinical audit.
  • Provide evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ensure compliance with the clinical and quality standards set out by the Healthcare Commission and the local purchasers contracts.
  • Respond to clinical emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Attend MDTs.
