This is a new and exciting inpatient consultant post has been created to enhance the inpatient medical team working alongside pre-existing consultants in the acute female and acute male ward. This post provides the opportunity to work as a team with other members of the medical team including consultants and other professionals such as consultant psychologists, OT, SALT, etc. The post holder will have the exciting opportunity to work closely as a team with the inpatient consultant group facilitating the patient's recovery journey through the inpatient pathway. The post holder will be supported by two resident doctors working in each ward and SAS grade doctors working in both wards. As a senior clinical leader, the consultant will be a core member of each ward's leadership team, working closely with ward managers, senior nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and other professionals to promote high standards of clinical care, patient safety, clinical governance, service development and staff wellbeing. The Post holder will provide medical assessment, diagnosis and formulation to patients admitted under the post holder's care including making assessments and recommendations under the Mental Health Act. The post holder will act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act. They will provide leadership to the inpatient team to deliver high-quality evidence-based care for the patients to help their recovery journey through the inpatient pathway. The post holder will work closely with the CBU, the Hospital to Home team, the Crisis team and the Community teams to effect timely and effective transitions of patients from inpatient to community care. This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant psychiatrist seeking a leadership role within a well-established acute inpatient service, providing consultant expertise across both male and female acute wards while working within a supportive, collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The post holder will provide leadership, consultation, advice and guidance within the adult acute pathway and work collaboratively with senior clinical colleagues within the Inpatient Care team and the Inpatient CBU.
