Job description
Overview

We are recruiting a Consultant Gastroenterologist for a large teaching Trust located in North East London, either on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract or on a Substantive basis.

Our client is located just 30 minutes from Central London and easily accessible to the coast and the Essex countryside. They operate two emergency departments and offer a full range of acute services. They also have a neuroscience centre, a cancer centre, a hyper acute stroke unit to provide specialist care, a dedicated breast care service and an income of close to £600m.

Our client is the local hub for bowel cancer screening (BCSP). They perform over 18,000 GI endoscopy procedures per year. This makes it ideal for providing a rich environment for delivering endoscopic care and training. The procedures performed include ERCP, EUS, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Laser, Stenting & PEG insertion & withdrawal.

Our client has a busy but very well developed Gastroenterology department covering a broad range of services to patients with gastrointestinal disorders. Jointly led by specialist medical and surgical gastroenterologists services include rapid access to diagnostics for patients with GI malignancies through endoscopy and Faster Diagnostic Standard (FDS). A regional cancer centre for the diagnosis and treatment of upper GI malignancies and colorectal cancer. Fully accredited for training in endoscopy and are a Regional Training Centre with JAG. Providing assessment, treatment and continuing care for patients with all gastrointestinal and liver conditions. The Endoscopy unit at is also a nominated and chosen site for the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
